Canine Massage Therapy

Each massage session is tailored to the individual needs of your furry friend and may include trigger point therapy to improve flexibility, promote circulation, reduce tension, and alleviate discomfort. Read about all benefits of massage therapy below.

Massage sessions take place at Core Fit Canine. Session lengths may slightly vary because every dog is unique. Factors such as the dog’s size, comfort level, physical condition, areas of tension, and individual needs all influence how long a massage session may take. Even for the same dog, session length may vary from visit to visit depending on their needs that day, but are typically of a 40-50 minute duration.

Every dog responds a little differently to massage. During our first session, I will work to build trust with your dog and help them feel at ease with me. The massage will be performed in a quiet space on a massage table or on the floor, depending on the dog's preference and comfort level. They may sit, lay down, stand, and are allowed to move around as needed during the session. Throughout the massage, I’m focusing on how your dog’s body feels and how they are reacting to touch, so I can adjust my technique to optimize the physical and emotional benefits your dog receives from our session. The initial session usually takes a few minutes longer as I will be going over history and areas of concern.

What is a Gait Analysis?

A gait analysis helps identify how a dog moves and whether there are any weaknesses, compensations, imbalances, or areas of discomfort that may affect performance and overall well-being. By observing the dog’s movement patterns, posture, stride length, weight shifting, and coordination, a fitness program can be tailored more safely and effectively to the individual dog. The analysis is performed by reviewing slow-motion video recordings of your dog walking and trotting from all four sides.

Gait analysis is important because it can:

  • Help detect early signs of mobility issues or discomfort

  • Reveal muscular imbalances and compensation patterns

  • Improve exercise selection and progression

  • Support injury prevention and safer conditioning

  • Track changes and progress over time

  • Improve body awareness, strength, and overall movement quality

Understanding how a dog moves allows exercises to be customized to support healthier, more efficient movement and long-term physical wellness.

Trick Training is Much More than Teaching Cute Behaviors

Trick training is commonly used to support fitness training and movement skills. It is also an excellent form of mental enrichment and an important way to build confidence, communication and teamwork between dogs and their owners. Learning tricks encourages dogs to think, problem-solve, and engage with their environment in a positive way. It can improve focus, body awareness, coordination, and overall confidence while strengthening the bond between dog and handler through fun, rewarding interactions. It adds a variety of enrichment to everyday life.
